3D Pre-Vis work by Mike Morgan
For Nexus Prime, I set up this scene in Blender to visualize how the campfire’s light would interact with the giant fallen mech and the group of teenagers gathered around it, with the distant city glowing in the background. This type of 3D keyframe concept art is part of my previsualization process, where I block out important shots before filming. By establishing the camera position, lens choice, and angle in Blender, I can lock in the mood, scale, and composition of a scene early on. This ensures that when production starts, I already know exactly how the final shot should look and feel—making the entire filmmaking process faster, more precise, and more cinematic. Mike Morgan – Unreal Engine World Builder & Designer Mike Morgan is a Northern California 3D artist and filmmaker who uses Unreal Engine to create stunning, immersive worlds for game development, interior design, and architectural visualization. With a background in cinematic storytelling, Mike blends photoreal rendering with real-time performance to build interactive environments that feel alive. From realistic interiors that help clients visualize spaces before they’re built, to high-concept sci-fi landscapes for film and games, his Unreal Engine work delivers both beauty and functionality. From Architecture to Sci-Fi Storytelling In addition to photoreal arch-viz projects, Mike specializes in designing sci-fi areas, futuristic cityscapes, and playable game levels inside Unreal Engine. These environments are built with attention to mood, lighting, and detail, making them perfect for both gameplay and cinematic sequences. Whether it’s a walkthrough for a luxury home, a virtual production stage, or a sprawling alien battlefield, Mike uses Unreal’s powerful toolset to bring concepts to life in a way that’s interactive, efficient, and visually unforgettable.3D Modeling by Mike Morgan
Hard surface 3d modeling and organic 3d modeling is a blast for me. I am so excited to take my knowledge of illustration painting and textural work and apply it to the complex and awesome world of 3d computer graphics. This 3D previsualization was created in Blender as part of my scene blocking process for Nexus Prime. A CG blockout allows me to plan camera angles, character positioning, movement, and lighting before shooting live-action or producing full CGI shots. In this example, we see Dex and Leo in their vehicle, heading toward the towering Nexus Prime Hive. The blockout focuses on composition, scale, and mood, helping ensure that every shot in the final film feels intentional and cinematic. Using Blender for previsualization provides the flexibility to experiment with different shots and pacing, saving both time and budget during production. It’s essentially an advanced storyboard brought to life in 3D, giving cast and crew a clear visual reference on set. 3D Cinema Shot Block Out by Mike Morgan
Nexus Prime – A Short Film by Mike Morgan I use 3D software to block out every scene before filming. By creating clay renders like the one shown here, I can evaluate shapes, composition, and lighting in advance. This technique works as an advanced storyboard, allowing me to plan camera angles, pacing, and mood before shooting live-action footage or developing a fully CG sequence. It’s a crucial step in ensuring every shot feels intentional and cinematic. Copyright © 2025 Mike Morgan Designs of the northern California area in USA.3D Modeling by Mike Morgan
